Re: [Handle-info] changing the system time and GOT_EXPIRED_MESSAGE - help!

Hi Jonathan,

It sounds like your system clock might have been made worse instead of better. Can you make sure that your time zone is correct? An expired message means that the timestamp on either the client or server was wildly off. I believe there is a 12 hour window for clocks to be out of sync. The reason for the window is to prevent third parties from re-sending signed messages after they have expired, which could be a security risk.

Can you make sure that the system time is actually correct on both the client and server. You probably also want to check that the time zone set on each computer is correct as setting an incorrect time zone is an easy way to move a client or server outside the "window".

Thanks,
Sean

Hi,

we've been using a handle system as part of our Dspace instance for 3
1/2 years now and not a problem.

I realized the system time was incorrect on the server, changed it and
now its not working, we're getting a GOT_EXPIRED_MESSAGE when I retrieve
an item handle using the admin tools.

I know (from the FAQ) that that message is due to the time change. is
there a fix for that? can we do something to fix it?

Thanks in advance,
Jon.
