Re: [Handle-info] Web Services for Handle Servers
I'll address this question from Mark:

What are your plans for the working group? I'm interested to learn
more.
Our plans, where 'our' equals the folks inside CNRI and some we've
spoken with outside of CNRI at some recent meetings, are quite
informal at the moment. We've noticed, however, that the number of
folks developing handle applications which are more than simple 'one
handle to one url' redirects is growing, which is good news from my
perspective, but that a number of people are simultaneously working
on the same problem, which is potential bad news if those efforts
don't leverage each other. Web services is the most recent and
prominent example of that.
What I would like to see evolve is a 'best practices' set of
documents or recommendations combined with some sort of review panel.
Such a panel would serve primarily to sanity check recommendations,
verifying that the proposed approach made practical sense and was
worth considering. It would not, for example, prevent the
recommendation of alternate solutions to the same problem. Advice on
this issue is welcome. Thanks.
