You can find information about this in Chapter 11 of the Handle Technical Manual.

I haven't actually tried this, but a template like the following should work:

<namespace>
  <template delimiter="/">
    <value index="1" type="URL" data="http://svr/lookup/${extension}"/>
  </template>
</namespace>
