[Handle-info] HandleTool Authentication

Not sure if I'm posting to the right list, but I was wondering if somebody here has seen the 'Invalid array size' exception while authenticating from the client Handle Admin Tool (v 2.1, Java 6 on a linux machine).  The exact message is this:

HandleException (MESSAGE_FORMAT_ERROR) Invalid array size
    at net.handle.hdllib.Encoder.readByteArray(Encoder.java:157)
    at net.handle.hdllib.Util.getPublicKeyFromBytes(Util.java:921)
    at net.handle.apps.gui.hadmin.HandleTool$CheckAuthentication.checkAuth(HandleTool.java:492)
    at net.handle.apps.gui.hadmin.HandleTool$CheckAuthentication.run(HandleTool.java:417)
    at net.handle.awt.TaskIndicator.run(TaskIndicator.java:99)
    at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:619)

It looks like my passphrase is correct, but the client code has problem reading the public key.
