Upgrading to HANDLE.NET Version 6.2

Note: Users of Handle System server software who downloaded earlier versions (5.3.4 and earlier) under any of the previous CNRI License Agreements, including DSpace users, may continue to use that version, provided the use of the system remains in accordance with the terms of their license, for educational, research or non-commercial use only. See "Important Information about the Handle System Public License Agreement".

NOTE: DSpace Users upgrading to HANDLE.NET 6.2 who were issued prefixes prior to June 19, 2006, click here.

To upgrade to HANDLE.NET 6.2 software:

  1. Accept the terms of the Handle System Public License.
  1. Download the software and replace your current handle.jar file with the new one. Version 6.2 will run on most platforms with Java version 1.4.2 and higher.
  1. Version 6.2 is substantially different than previous versions. Review the HANDLE.NET Software Version 6.2 Release Notes.
  1. Go to Resolution Service Providers to register as an RSP so that you may continue to use your previously assigned prefix with version 6.2 software, and pay the $50 per prefix annual fee (requests for new/additional prefixes require a $50 registration fee).
  1. If you have already registered but not paid, and you know your HSSA number, click here to complete the payment process.
